A client who initially establishes a clean channel connection on 5 GHz can discover that switching to 2.4 GHz is necessary to maintain decent throughput. That opportunity is forfeited though if it lacks the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi profile. Even though the profile should be configured, switching profiles results in a disconnect and reconnect since each profile represents a different virtual interface.
